Styrotex as Thermal Insulation

The cost-effective measure to reduce carbon dioxide emissions
Research has shown that energy efficiency initiatives in the building sector are among the most cost-effective measures available for policy makers seeking to reduce carbon dioxide emissions. Increasing their insulation levels can reduce the energy requirements of buildings.
Styrotex Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) is a versatile durable material that offers excellent insulation properties. As the structure of EPS consists of 98% air its initial thermal properties are maintained throughout its working life.

EPS is primarily used as an effective thermal insulation material in a wide range of buildings for
    • walls
    • roofs
    • floors

Easy and effective

Styrotex as ICF Building Systems

Styrotex as Insulated Concrete Form Building System
Fill the interlocked blocks with sand-cement or concrete
The STYROBLOCK is an interlocking hollow building module of Styrotex Expanded Polystyrene.
During construction the STYROBLOCK serves as permanent shuttering by either filling it with a sand-cement mix or concrete, and afterwards provide permanent insulation to the structure.

Styrotex for Structural Insulated Panel Systems

The cost-effective and labour saving solution
Structural Insulated Panel Systems (SIPs) are one of the most advanced building systems in use within the construction industry today. The innovative and high performance panels provide an energy and cost effective, environmentally friendly and labour saving alternative.
The truth is that Styrotex SiPanel systems continue to be the preferred solution, now and into the future.
    • SiPanels for Cold- or Frezer Rooms
    • SiPanels for temperature controlled Warehouses
    • SiPanels for modular Offices
    • SiPanels for prefabricated Accomodation
    • SiPanels for prefabricated Hospitals and Clinics
    • SiPanels for office Partitioning

Styrotex as Void Former

Creative architects and engineers fill the void with the lightweight and cost-effective solution
Styrotex Expanded Polystyrene is compatible with cement, concrete, brick, masonry, mortars, plaster and bitumen based damp proof membranes. By using EPS moulds architects, construction engineers and builders today, are making use of the opportunity presented by system solutions and incorporate them into their plans appropriately for the functions concerned.

Fill the void

Void Former can be manufactured to most shapes specified by designers for projects such as Bridge Beams, elevated motorways, etc. in which void forming is fundamental to modern design.
Styrotex Decking Modules are used as void fillers in decking, which not only enhance thermal and acoustic insulation, but are also extremely lightweight and cost effective.
Obvious advantages:
    • No bottom of slab formwork required
    • Reduced weight on foundation of structures
    • Installation time is reduced by 70%
    • Up to 30% cost saving on material
    • Easy handling of components before pouring of concrete and therefore a minimal risk of damage to components

Styrotex as Buoyancy

98% air offers extreme buoyancy
In construction of marinas or in many other marine applications, the buoyancy of Styrotex EPS can support more weight than alternative materials.
As Styrotex EPS consists of approximately 98% air and is highly water and moisture resistant, the buoyancy factor of Styrotex EPS weight for weight is unsurpassed.
    • A cubic metre of EPS with a density of only 15 kg/m3 has a buoyancy of approximately 950kg!

Styrotex as Geofoam

GeoFoam is generally defined as a foam material used as lightweight fill in geotechnical applications to reduce settlement and enhance soil stability. Using GeoFoam as a soil replacement can permit the construction of large volume earth structures like highway and railroad embankments over soils of low bearing capacity. GeoFoam can also be used as a compressible inclusion under concrete and earth structures. GeoFoam has excellent vibration damping and thermal insulation properties.
